Developed a StoryMap analyzing transportation, architecture, and urban vitality within Charlottesville’s ‘Corner’, including 3D Scene tour of the area. Used multipatch editing and texture application working with digital GIS data and personal photos to construct a realistic 3D model of an iconic building.

Georeferenced and analyzed original 17th- and 18th-century colonial North American maps, converting cartographic features into shapefiles. Highlighted embedded histories and misrepresentation of Indigenous populations within interactive StoryMaps.

These maps were created for inclusion within Managers Reports for Bureau of Land Management National Conservation Lands (NLCS) units. Managers Reports are published annually for each NLCS unit, and provide a public-facing, high-level report of the unit’s accomplishments that year. These maps are typically included on the first page of a report, and intend to provide an overview of the park boundaries, recreational opportunities, points of interest, and context within surrounding land management agencies.
New maps were created for newly designated units, including Avi Kwa Ame National Conservation Area, Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni - Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument, Numunna Nobe National Conservation Area, and Pistone-Black Mountain National Conservation Area. An updated map was created for Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument due to a boundary expansion.
Maps were created in collaboration with unit managers. Original drafts were developed and tailored in accordance with manager feedback provided in workshop calls. Specific considerations included familiar map projection, display or omittance of sensitive cultural resources, and level of detail in regards to display of off-roading routes.
These maps were created to serve as inset and reference maps for articles included within the Park Stewardship Forum’s publication dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of National Conservation Lands, a special designation of lands within the Bureau of Land Management.
